This procedure is usually performed under local aesthesia or light sleep sedation. 

Areola Reduction

Surgical reduction of enlarged areola is done by removing some of the pigmented skin. Either by an incision around the outside of the areola or an incision around the nipple.

Puffiness of the areola and the nipple can be corrected by removing gland tissue

Areola LIFT

The most common procedure is the Benelli Lift.  A donut of skin is removed from the flesh colored area.  Large areolas may require a lollypop shaped closure; this is when the scar runs down from the nipple and around the areola to close like a lollipop. Often areola enhancement surgery is part of a mastopexy -  breast reduction - or breast lift surgery.

	The Benelli doughnut, peri-areolar correction: This technique is considered less invasive and was designed with the scars being around the areolae.  A donut shaped piece of tissue around the areola border is removed and the surrounding tissue sutured to the areola. Sometimes a little more tissue is removed above the areola to compensate for a lifting effect when it is sutured.  The scars have a nasty tendency to become hypertrophic, which may necessitate a conversion to a Lollipop Procedure.
	The Benelli-Lollipop: Straight incisions from under the areolae to the mammary fold are made to reduce slight sagging (ptosis) of the areola. This technique is for those who have too much for the simple Benelli Lift only and too little for a full mastopexy incision.
	Breast Reduction surgery Breast Lift surgery with areola correction: The incisions are made in the shape of an anchor at the natural crease of the breast up to the areola. Excess skin and breast tissue can be removed to lift a sagging breast or to reduce the size of the breast. The shape of the areola will be corrected at the same time.

Areola pigmentation

Micropigmentation, or demographics, can replace or enhance color to the skin via small implantations of ink via a tattoo gun.
