INVERTED NippleS
- NIPPLE AUGMENTATION
Approximately 2% of the female population
may have at least one inverted nipple.
The shape and size of the nipple may also
differ: large or wide or even shy.
What many women think of as "the nipple"
is actually made of two parts: the nipple and the areola. The
nipple is the projected part and the areola is the dark
pigmented skin that surrounds the nipple.

Enhancement
Abnormalities or imperfections may affect
self-esteem and body image. Most cases of inverted nipples are
congenital-some persons are just born that way. There are 3
grades of inversion. Women with grade 3 inverted nipples
struggle with infections, rashes or problems with hygiene.
On examination in the Yoskarn Clinic your
aesthetic surgeon will determine which part of the nipple
needs to be corrected. He will discuss the approach and method
of anaesthesia.
Most nipple surgery can be done under local
anaesthesia.
Nipple reduction -
NIPPLE SHORTENING
Nipple reduction surgery
is the procedure to shorten the length of protruding nipples.
Having too protruding, too long nipples can
be a consequence of breast feeding or a genetic
predisposition.
Extremely long nipples can be embarrassing
and you might wish to reduce the projection of the nipple by
surgical means.
COMPLICATIONS &
RISKS
As with any surgery, there are risks
involved. Complications include re-inversion, infection,
tissue injury, bleeding, and adverse reaction to anaesthesia.
The procedure may also result in noticeable scars, permanent
pigment changes, or slightly mismatched nipples. Nipple
protrusion with stimulation may change. If nipple inversion
recurs or asymmetry is significant, a second procedure may be
needed. The temporary effects of inverted nipple surgery can
include loss of breast sensation or numbness. Sometimes
woman can breastfeed normally, while for others it will be
impossible.
RECOVERY
Recovery after nipple enhancement surgery
may be a bit painful, but this usually lasts only a day or so,
and is easily controlled with pain medication.
Daily activities can be resumed within 24 to
48 hours. Dissolving stitches are used which will avoid
painful suture removal.

This procedure is usually performed
under local aesthesia or light sleep sedation.
Areola
Reduction
Surgical reduction of enlarged
areola is done by removing some of the pigmented skin.
Either by an incision around the outside of the areola
or an incision around the nipple.
Puffiness of the areola and the
nipple can be corrected by removing gland tissue
